Hey, I'm Mike, a born and raised Kiwi currently residing in Sydney Australia. I am an Experience/Industrial/UX/Research designer, with a focus on bringing human-centered, empathy-driven, practical and creative solutions to almost any problem.
My career started in a small engineering workshop south of Auckland city pulling apart every piece of framing equipment you can think of. After finishing my apprenticeship, I decided to study industrial design at UNITEC in Auckland, New Zealand. From there, I worked with start-ups and other larger companies, each time discovering and honing new skills and ways of thinking. After spending some time within the industrial design industry, I decided to step into the world of professional services and take a job as a consultant at Deloitte Digital. At Deloitte Digital I was a part of a team who applied HCD, Design thinking methods, process, and tools to create innovative solutions to a wide range of professional service clients and industries.
There are not too many programs I haven't used, over the past ten years I am comfortable using, Adobe suit, Solidworks, 3D Studio Max, Rhino, and Fusion 360.
I have a genuine love for my work, and I take it seriously, but as you can tell by the photos below, I don't take myself too seriously, so when I'm not busy designing I'm with family, friends, going camping, running, practicing BJJ, and missing my dog back in NZ… :(
